A criatividade na clínica contemporânea: discursos e representações de uma prática intercomunicada

Abstract

This doctoral thesis proposed exploring contemporary psychotherapeutic practices in their interactions with creativity, with the goal of understanding the social representation of creativity in clinical context, from the thought and practice of professionals working in public, private and social clinics, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The working hypothesis is that creativity is not sufficiently situated in clinical work on three aspects: the lack of studies on the subject, which goes against the current debate about the contribution of creativity in various fields; the evidence of implicit relationship between psychotherapy and creative practices observed in everyday practice; and the third one adds to the others the need to build knowledge and personal development contextualized to act with protagonism and quality. The theory included concepts of clinical and social psychology, comprehensive philosophy, socio-historical thinking and creative psychopedagogy, and the methodology included the research of social representation on quantitative and qualitative focus operationalized by the instruments of the Collective Subject Discourse. These approaches maintain coherence and complementarity between themselves, plus the interdisciplinarity and dialogicity they provide. The empirical research has investigated the meaning, the significance and the usefulness attributed to creativity by psychotherapists in line with their experiences in the context of psychotherapy. Computing the results obtained by analyzing the discourses constructed, it was possible to identify, appoint and assign value to creativity applied to the clinical setting, allowing to represent the thinking of professionals in the matters sized and, in general, affirm the place of creativity as implicit practice in psychotherapy, contributing to fulfilling the demands of contemporary clinical characteristics, with respect to the patient, the procedure and the therapist.
