Abstract

This paper summarizes some of the reflections that emerge from a doctoral research in progress that seeks to understand the meanings attributed by the undergraduates of the Biology course at a Brazilian University to their own reading practices and to their role as mediators of reading in elementary education, through the recognition of the specificities of reading didactic texts in the field of science and biology. Data production was made through the narratives of students/subjects, a relation of otherness established with the teacher/researcher. The research reaffirms the relevance of the qualitative approach, namely narrative investigation, when you want to understand how are produced statements, counter-words and silences that constitute clues to our questions and propositions.
