In detailing the Institutional Evaluation in Brazil, it can be seen the purpose and dimensions, observing levels and external processes, carried out by Committees of the Ministry of Education, and internal, carried out by Self-Evaluation Own Commissions/CPAs. The meaning and importance of the Political-Pedagogical Project for external and internal evaluation is also analyzed. Furthermore, it is emphasized evaluation as means of contribution to the improvement of academic practices, questioning forms of results dissemination through the press, which translate into comparisons and “marketing” for Institutions, losing educational sense and purpose, as well as focus on key issues to improve the quality of the courses. Studies on institutional evaluation in Latin America observe the importance and insipience, and propose major increment, with an emphasis on faculty competence and social mission. This proposal is also a significant reference to the Brazil model.
