Image of science and technology of Colombian high school students based on data from the ROSES study

The study of the affective sphere has allowed a better understanding of the behavior of human beings. This knowledge, which initially belonged to social psychology, has provided new avenues for research and development in various areas where people develop. An example of this is education, where historically the educational process has focused on the cognitive, downplaying other aspects of the human being, however, research based on the affective where attitudes have their foundation, have allowed research developments that They contribute from other areas. This communication is a contribution in this sense, making known the general results of the ROSES (Relevance Education of Science Second) Colombia study from which the section called My opinions on science and technology was selected, which aims to evaluate the image of science and technology of 1394 15-year-old Colombian students who finish the basic cycle of secondary education. The results obtained generally show that the Colombian students who participated in the sample have a favorable image towards science and technology, with a critical sense, which evidences a classroom process tending to trust in these fields of knowledge for advancement and development of society, without being naive.
