Our aim is to present an experience of curricular integration of Wikipedia in the educational designer’s training context, based on a proposal that involved designing didactic choreographies in the Higher Technology Course in Educational Design at the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp). The training proposal was also associated with the organization of an extension event titled “Wikipedia in the Curriculum: Utopia or Reality?”. We start by describing our theoretical framework, related to Open Education, which includes the International Academic Network WEIWER®, and within it, Wikipedia. Then, we consider our methodological framework, based on a case study from the perspective of the pragmatic paradigm, using data collection instruments, which are also described. Subsequently, the training context in which the extension event was integrated is discussed, as well as the results of this activity, based on data collected from two surveys conducted through questionnaires and participant observation using a focused observation grid. The statistical and content analysis of the evidence points to the finding that there is still a significant lack of knowledge on how to effectively integrate Wikipedia into the curriculum. This reveals the need to provide relevant information within the academic environment to inspire new actors, both teachers and students, to recognize the scientific potential of the current encyclopedia as a tool allied with the design of new didactic choreographies in several educational, open, and networked contexts, thereby founding new pedagogical paths and the curricular integration of Wikipedia.
