The data presented in this article were created in 2014, by observing the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) at the History Course (Distance Learning), offered by the State University of Goiás / Brazil, using the virtual ethnographic strategy. We discussed the transformation of Distance Learning Education process on a “media spectacle”, a phenomenon that has been constructed by the media in our contemporary societ. The goal here is to reduce the essence of reality to mere appearance. The immediate consequence of this reduction of meaning is the misrepresentation of the reason for education, for the university and human formation, because the fundamental issues related to the training are set aside. For such reflection, we dialogue with authors who discuss the transformation of the education in a spectacle, with a perspective of making a critical analysis of this subject matter.
