Abstract

The professionalization of basic education teacher educators constitutes one of the emerging challenges of the Brazilian educational system towards improving the quality of basic education. The aim of this text is to share the contributions of a professional master’s degree program in education for the training and professional performance of basic education teacher educators, based on the analysis of two core elements of the educational process experienced: the research of the pedagogical practice carried out throughout the course and the academic mentoring process developed with the master’s students for designing the research project. Supported by foreign and Brazilian authors, the research concepts of practice research and mentoring will be discussed, and results of studies and testimonials from educators derived from the course evaluation in 2020 will be presented. The results indicate the strengthening of this professional master’s degree and the social impact as a result of the Practice Research from the monitoring of tutors and professors of the course.
