The publication of scientific articles in specialized journals is currently the privileged vehicle for the dissemination of scientific research. Nevertheless, many researchers struggle with fears and insecurities when asked to write articles in English, especially those who are less experienced in writing in this language. This article is aimed at researchers, especially those in the fields of psychology and education, who intend to start or consolidate their scientific writing in English. The main objectives are, on the one hand, to help the researchers become aware of the relevance and importance of publishing their manuscripts in English and, on the other hand, to provide them with some practical guidance and useful tips to successfully reach their goal. To this end, we will seek to deconstruct some myths associated to scientific or academic writing in English and, later, we will present some examples of frequently used expressions in scientific texts, particularly related to the mentioned fields.
