The material conditions of the practice of physical education in the elementary school - a qualitative look of managers

This study focuses on the analysis of the material conditions of the development of physical education (PE) in schools of elementary schools, based on the perspectives of managers of schools with responsibility for this level. Were surveyed through a questionnaire, 14 teachers of the elementary schools management functions toward school groups in the region of Aveiro (Portugal) who responded to the questions: i) “How do you characterize the quality of the material conditions of the EF area schools 1st ceb grouping (very bad, bad, reasonable, good, very good or excellent); ii) Why? (Open question); iii) that the realization of the context of PE classes most used ?; iv Justify (open question). The data were analyzed in terms of content analysis and showed that managers have identified a variety of material conditions for the PE elementary schools, between groups and also within some groups. There is a positive overall perception on the material conditions for the development of PE, in spite of the difference between schools.
