In Brazil, mobile science museums travel to remote places promoting inclusive scientific learning. This study, with three mobile museum coordinators, analyses how they perceive mediators’ communication practices and how those practices can be improved. Coordinators’ interviews suggest that they value a dialogue model of communication. However, because they face several restrictions in selecting mediators, the most competent are not always selected. As a result, communication is often based on a “deficit” model. Despite this scenario, coordinators believe that mediators’ practices can be improved, e.g., through training courses and by engaging them in projects that support the development of a sense of identity with the museum.
