Mathematics in the primary school: learning outside the classroom

To attract primary school students to learn mathematics is a school’ goal, but it has not been an easy task. The connections between different content areas of knowledge and the use of non-formal contexts can be a means of achieving this goal. To respond to this challenge, a study was designed to understand how learning mathematics, outside the classroom, could involve and motivate students, as well as develop their ability to communicate. The results showed that work mathematics outdoor and to use tasks involving different curricular areas and real life positively influenced students who revealed to be more committed and motivated.
