Studies based on the Science, Technology and Society - STS perspective have contributed to design innovative and socially conscious curricula in teacher training. This study aims, in an action-research methodology, to contribute to the initial teacher training based on activities built upon the integration between the CTS movement and visual arts, considering the CTS-Art strategy. In this study, future Chemistry teachers developed discussions about the oxidative processes of art in metal and the importance of Chemistry in heritage education, as science and technology at the service of culture and society. Some artistic productions by the Brazilian artist Lygia Clark (1920-1988) were selected as a context in the discussion of the historical and cultural importance of visual arts, as well as in the role of Chemistry in the conservation and restoration of collections, initiating social perceptions of Science.
