“From head to toe, to know the body” – the corporal scheme in the kindergarten

The present article focuses on the development of body scheme of preschool children. It reports a descriptive-comparative study with 19 children (between 3 and 5 years old) and it was carried out in a School Center located in the municipality of Ílhavo, Portugal, and was implemented over the course of three months. As for data collection instruments, Vítor da Fonseca’s Psychomotor Battery was used, as we performed a quantitative data analysis in order to understand children’s evolution in relation to its kinesthetic sense and laterality. The aim of this study was to characterize the process of body scheme notions of children who participated in our program.
