Abstract

In this study, after sketching a concise overview of Camilo Castelo Branco’s dramatic production, we aim to analyse two of the author’s short texts – O tio egresso e o sobrinho bacharel and Dois murros úteis – originally written in 1849, and later collected in the 1863 volume under the title Noites de Lamego. We thus hope to disclose the patterns of Camilian comedy, together with the satirical dimension of his fiction.
