Abstract

Our purpose is to reflect upon the narratives, especially short stories, of three Azorean writers who lived during the second half of the nineteenth century and first decades of the twentieth century: Nunes da Rosa, Florêncio Terra and Rodrigo Guerra. We attempt to characterize the first steps of a particular type of narrative – the short
story of Azorean subject –, which already shows, in this period, a more visible relation with the region it portrays.
