Abstract

In Ah! Mònim dum Corisco!..., Onésimo Teotónio Almeida used a short literary form – one-act play – to satirize the emigration experience in Portuguese-American communities. Resorting to several sign systems used in the theatre language, the author builds a humorous mosaic based on the day-to-day experience of the Azorean emigrant, an experience dramatized in short one-act plays, which demand greater conciseness.
