Abstract

Dina Salústio’s short stories, gathered in Mornas eram as noites, cast new perspectives to the Cape verdean literary production as it draws a critical picture of contemporary society, which is evoked by the texts in which they are inserted. The discussion of issues of gender, the fundamental support for the reading of these short narratives, aims at unmasking the contradictions based on stereotypes and prejudices so that, by imploding them with an incisive and concentrated language, other paths to the accomplishment of the human being are proposed.
