When we consider the fiction by Celestino Gomes, it is undoubtedly amongst his short stories that we can find a more recurrent thematisation of the topics of decadentism, both in terms of its distinctive themes and aesthetics, which the doctor -writer has been able to skillfully combine in the six short stories analyzed in this essay. The reading of these short stories allows us to come into contact with six female characters whose erotic strength is definitely connected to the decadent female paradigm also viewed from the standpoint of its double movement of fall or ascent.
