Abstract

The human need to share experiences and knowledge by narrating stories is a typical feature of oral societies that the tale masterly represents. Although of a distant origin, only in the nineteenth century does it develop into a purely literary and authorial genre, by having its form go through a modernization process which takes shape by the revival of a purpose intrinsic to its genealogy and the oral tradition: the instructive purpose.
