Abstract

This paper investigates in The Letter of Pero Vaz de Caminha and in two other letters of the Jesuit Priest Manuel da Nóbrega the first depictions of Brazil’s early inhabitants. To this end, this work compiles and analyzes the names, the adjectives, the actions and the judgments that describe the Brazilians in these documents.
