Abstract

Our proposal is to read the myth of the Lusitanian mares again and prove that an origin linked to the ancient Greek mythology and its frontier symbolic stories can be defended. Starting with the account of the study sources available nowadays, we will carry out an analysis that will show, on the one hand, the importance of the Homeric tradition in the evolution of the story, and, on the other, the presence of some elements that will lead us to distinguish several influences from a possible Phoenician tradition. These influences are difficult to define, but we will relate them to their cosmogony by way of hypothesis.
