Woman in History: an analysis of the tale Colheita, by Nélida Piñon

Abstract

The objective of this work is to present a reading of the tale Colheita, by the brazilian writer Nélida Piñon, in the perspective of the construction of a strand of history from the feminine view. By deconstructing essentialisms about the markings of the feminine and masculine, the tale narrative reveals the possibility of approaching social experiences from a destabilizing point of view, subverting notions about feminine protagonism throughout the centuries. Through a lyrical language and led by a third person narrator, the reader knows the experiences of the protagonist waiting for the return of the beloved. This female character through an intimate dive can reconstruct an identity for herself in this waiting process, and consequently a new insight into her connection with the world that surrounds her. If the male character was able to build a story from the adventures and experiences lived through the years in which he passed away from home, the feminine was given the power of inventiveness to register as a subject through his daily discoveries and solidification of a strong and independent identity.
