Mia Couto: the short story canon

Abstract

The essay’s main purposes are: 1) To explain the reasons that justify the relevance of short stories in Mia Couto’s literary production; 2) To identify the most significant themes in the author’s short stories: the dreams, the fantastic, the respect for nature and the social issues; 3) To show that Couto’s short stories shape Mozambican literary canon.
