José Rodrigues Miguéis published four short story collections: Onde a Noite se Acaba (1946), Léah e Outras Histórias (1958), Gente da Terceira Classe (1962), and Pass(ç)os Confusos (1982). In this fictional frame with strong autobiographical elements, the first-person narratives form an ambiguous scene of enunciation, mixture of fiction, chronicles and memoir.
