Interreligious dialogue and human rights: Latin American challenges

Abstract

The proposal of this text is based on the theme of Interreligious Dialogue and Human Rights, a theme still incipient in the Latin American context. Having as a starting point the understanding of dialogue in authors such as Paulo Freire (Brazilian) and Kwok Pui-Lan (Chinese), we seek in the religions points of dialogue, since they nourish a living well, that is, there are in their matrix elements which deal with the dignity of the human being and his relations with the sacred, with others like him and with nature (ecology). Now the conditions for these religions to dialogue and deal with common themes do not necessarily pass through the dogmatic or doctrinal aspect of religions. Here we understand that the theme of Human Rights, from the reflections of Michael Amaladoss (Indian), can be an element of dialogue and praxis. With that, our concern is with the Latin American context, that is, with the concrete problems that mark the trajectory of Latin America, such as its constant struggle for rights and dignity.
