Abstract

This paper presents a panoramic overview of the structural features that distinguish the classical short story, as well as the modern short story, and the postmodern one (where both former traditions juxtapose in an ironic and paradoxical fashion). The following section contains some cases of personal poetics about the creation of the short story in Mexico. The following section presents some elements that distinguish the short short and the so-called minifiction. Finally, some cases of infography and narrative formulas produced in the study of short story are mentioned. The paper closes with a general bibliography (150 titles in English, French, Spanish, and Portughese) on short story theory, minifiction theory, and personal poetics for writing short story.
