Do exemplum ao conto: «O Tesouro»
Abstract
Through the comparative analysis of three literary versions of the motif of the deadly treasure (an exemplum taken from the medieval treatise Orto do Esposo; Chaucer’s The Pardoner’s Tale and Eça de Queirós’ short story «O Tesouro») we have attempted to shed some light on the way in which systematic generic transformations of a similar narrative argument, involving short narrative genres in all cases, may underlie substantially distinct modes of knowing and interpreting the world.
