Abstract

This paper aims to analyze António Ramos Rosa’s poem «A fl or que ainda não nasceu na página» («The fl ower which hasn’t been born on the page yet»), by observing the discussion that the author himself proposes about poetic writing. So, in order to present our interpretation, we begin by surveying his formal procedures, focusing on what is encompassed in the sign «fl ower», as an artistic object that is realized and unmasked in the reading process. We believe the debate about the nature of literary language raised by Rosa´s poem relocates this object as a space for hesitation of various discourses, as well as our relationship with the word and the world. In order to interpret the poem this way, we mainly resorted to Chklovski (1973), Barthes (1978), Bosi (1977) and Paz (1982).
