Antígonas de Sófocles e de Eurípides: um modelo de interlocução

Resumo

Sófocles obteve com a sua Antígona um enorme êxito, não apenas entre os seus contemporâneos, como ao longo de milénios. Ainda hoje esta sua criação de 441 a.C. continua a ser a tragédia mais representada e com maior repercussão em adaptações e reescritas.
No lastro dessa mesma popularidade, Eurípides compôs, anos mais tarde, a sua própria Antígona, uma peça para nós perdida, mas também ela popular na Antiguidade. Ao que testemunhos e fragmentos conservados nos permitem concluir, Eurípides retomou as traves-mestras da peça de Sófocles, mas, ao alterar-lhes a proporção, converteu uma tragédia de forte índole política numa peça de índole romanesca.
