Literature of refuge in the diverse screens
Abstract
In 2010 and 2011, two tragedies occurred in the world whose consequences are still present: the earthquake in Haiti and the Syrian war. Soon after these events, Brazil received thousands of migrants mainly from these two countries. How to empathize, discover, relate, and understand these migrants who arrived in Brazil and in various parts of the world is an open question. This article tries to give some clues for answers through the concept of Screens, developed by the TELAA nucleus of Unb. The experience of these migrants has been shown in several different screens (currently animations, comics, electronic games and, more traditionally, fictions, poems, theatre, works of art, which we also treat as screens). We intend to show several examples of screens whose theme highlights the experience of migration. Baudrillard in La Guerre du Golfe n’a pas eu lieu (1992) shows how the screens can take us away from the real experience by generating a simulacrum. This work wants to show that the opposite can happen, a certain type of pathos different from the lassitude described by Baudrillard may appear when artists link the experiences and feelings of the migrant through their works.
