Presenteeism among nursing professionals in the hemodialysis sector and the importance of ergonomics

This study aimed to identify, in the scientific literature, existing information about presenteeism among nursing professionals in the hemodialysis sector and its relationship with worker’s healths’ health, through na integrative literature review conducted in the PUBMED, SCOPUS, BVS na Google Scholar databases. Of eight articles published between 2014 and 2024 were identified, with three from Brazil, two from Turkey, one from Australia and New Zealand, one from China, and onde from Serbia. The findings revealed that presenteeism is a common phenomenon among nursing professionals in the hemodialysis sector, influenced by physical, psychological, and social factors. Nursing, being predominantly a female profession, reflects cultural expectations and gender stereotypes that associate caregiving with women. Consequently, the majority of participantes in studies on presenteeism in the hemodialýsis sector were female.
