Abstract

This study presents a redesign proposal for the onboarding process of a Smart Home application developed by Altice Labs, aiming to address issues identified in a previous version regarding aesthetic coherence and usability. Grounded in the principles of emotional design and the temporality of user experience, a new approach was developed focusing on a unified visual language and the use of animations as an engagement element. Usability tests validated the effectiveness of the implemented changes, revealing significant improvements in users' initial experience and positive emotional responses. The study points to the relevance of onboarding in shaping users' perceptions and attitudes over time, and exposes the potential of a design approach attentive to the visceral, behavioral, and reflective dimensions of experience to enhance the perceived quality and engagement capacity of a mobile application.
