Abstract

This work aimed to build a support tool for book’s cover design’s. We seek to know how the linguistic’s components are ordered and combined, and to check whether their relation provides easy of reading and interpretation, communicating information about the literature. The tool was designed based on guidelines and concepts of Information design and graphic and visual language, consolidated into 32 criteria.
For testing and validation process were evaluated covers of books present on the course plan of Ergonomia Informacional course of the graduate program in Design at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Preliminary results show that the ‘size’ criteria, ‘gender variance’ and ‘types’ are always present, and the criteria category ‘Semantic Text and Image’ rarely are. The instrument can be used as support in the design of new interfaces books.
