Visual communication: images that disseminate science
Abstract
This article is based on an analysis of visual communication concept and its use in the context of science communication. Since the first scientific publications authors seek to strengthen their findings with the aid visual representations, facilitating the dissemination of their knowledge. The incorporation of images in communication strategy, since the Nicolaus Copernicus Heliocentric model to more recent examples like the images of Cosmos produced by the Hubble Space Telescope, will contribute towards the role of communication disciplines in the production of scientific images. In a society where the abundance of visual elements is becoming stronger and where the construction of knowledge resorts to the use of new languages, it is important to assess the contribution of visual representation in science communication for a better understanding of the world.
