The domestic solitude of the elegiac matron

Abstract

With this paper we intend to let you know part of a much longer research work with regard to the concept of the ideal matrona and her environment in Roman letters. We refer specifically to the domestic solitude of wives left alone by their husbands in the marital homes. These husbands have set out to faraway lands to participate in different wars, several expeditions or to go into exile.
