Abstract

This article seeks, on one hand, to scrutinize the passages where Carthaginians are explicitly named in the Bellum Iugurthinum, and, on the other, to identify the influences on Sallust’s inquiry of Roman politics of the analysis of the Roman and Carthaginian constitutions presented by Polybius in book 6 of his Historias, so as to deepen the understanding of the political and moral reflection provided by Sallust in his work.
