The triumph of plausibility: the Parthenon and Thucydides

The Parthenon, and The Peloponnesian War, by Thucydides, were created in the second half of the V century BC. Its authors have used some trickery to make their excellent work appear perfect. That is, they have resorted to the plausible (τὸ εἰκός), passing it off as the true (τὸ ἀληθές). They do not comply with Walter Gropius’ principle — form follows function —, because they are influenced by Sophistry.
