Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the mythical character Paris Alexander in four Pindar’s poems: Pythian 6, Fr. 120 (encomium), Paean 6 and Paean 8a.
For that, I will compare the mythical narratives presented in these melic songs, as well their poetic language, with other sources, especially Homer. In this way, it hopes to find possible traditional traces and/or innovation, which will permit pondering about the pindaric Paris characterization and its different facets, and how it relates with the overall objectives of the song.
