The idea of sacrifice based on the sources of Classical Antiquity in Arte de Ser Português by Teixeira de Pascoaes

Abstract

We first situate Arte de Ser Português, a work of maturity, in the context of its time. Afterwards, we identify some thematic strands of Hellenic inspiration which seem to underlie the definition of the idea of sacrifice presented by Teixeira de Pascoaes in this short manual for civic education. We recognize a movement driven by the notion of “literature of reuse” and ultimately of intertextuality.
