Abstract

This paper presents the first study of the interlinear Latin text of LXX-Ecclesiastes in the Complutensian Polyglot Bible. In the first part, we collate the first chapter against the Greek reference text and analyse the cases best illustrating the translation’s unique and distinctive features. In the second, we study the interesting differences between the interlinear and Vulgate texts, the different types of variants and the possible reasons for their occurrence. Finally, we investigate the sources Jerome may have used.
