The term οὐδός, "threshold", turns up, as a Homeric legacy, in Argonautica by Apollonius of Rhodes. Occurring five times, it is a favoured site for diegetic change, signalling the end of Phineus's curse and the success of the mission carried out by the Argonauts. Its symbolic dimension hinges on the possibility of intersecting different plans, allowing the association of Phineus and Medea, thereby establishing a subtle interpretive link that casts an ominous shadow on the young couple's love.
