Abstract

The Homeric antecedents of the tragic Agamemnon, both in the features of his character and in the motifs which define the saga of House of Atreus, should be analysed in often veiled allusions which are nevertheless rich in meaning and, most importantly, in dramatic potentialities. These allusions are fully developed in the action of the tragedy.
