Las nubes homéricas como representación de lo divino en el Renacimiento

Abstract

The emergence of the representations of the divine upon clouds in Renaissance art has been explained by experts in virtue of new technical resources developed during that period. Our research has led us to put forward a new interpretation of such phenomenon. Based on the fourteenth‐century Latin translation of the Iliad, we propose the Homeric epic as an allegorical source allowing an understanding of the proliferation of images of the divine upon clouds.
