The aim of this paper is to analyze the historical perception of the “Pentecontaetia”. We argue that the historiographic bias of Thucydides decisively determines our interpretations on this subject. Therefore, we propose a reassessment of other sources like Herodotus, Aristotle, Diodorus, and Plutarch in order to build a parallel story of Athens immediately after the Persian Wars.
