Resumo
No Hércules de Eurípides as personagens (a família de Hércules na primeira parte e o próprio Hércules na segunda) têm de decidir, perante uma situação de infor-túnio, se aceitam a morte ou suportam a vida. A família de Hércules aceita morrer para cumprir a noção de εὐγένεια. Em contrapartida, Hércules decide viver. A argumentação em volta desta decisão implica uma reelaboração dos valores heroicos a partir de perspe-tivas muito mais humanistas.
